As this being Thanks Giving Week – Here is what was in Blaugh
According to an article from Computer World:
Recently at the Professional Association for SQL Server conference, CEO of Microsoft, Steve Ballmer expressed his views by saying that “Linux operating system infringes on Microsoft’s intellectual property”
According to Ballmer:
Microsoft was motivated to sign a deal with SUSE Linux distributor Novell Inc. earlier this month because Linux “uses our intellectual property” and Microsoft wanted to “get the appropriate economic return for our shareholders from our innovation.”
The readers of this article took no time to respond to this statement of Ballmer.. The readers expressed their thoughts on this statement where few saying that this was an arrogant statement by Ballmer.. You can read the comments of the readers here – Comments from Readers of Computer World
After a week of this happenings, CEO of Novell Ron in his open letter to the community said:
our agreement with Microsoft is in no way an acknowledgment that Linux infringes upon any Microsoft intellectual property. To claim otherwise is to further sow fear, uncertainty and doubt, and does not offer a fair basis for competition
Later computer world, collected the responses from other companies CIOs where one suggested that if Linux has the codes of MS, then they should be published by Microsoft and the other said that he has taken greater offense from Ballmer’s statement..
So, now what would happen to the deal, though Ron’s statement clearly states that the deal is intact.. Only time can answer this..
