In a study done by Next Generation Security software (NGGS) shows Oracle’s Database to have more Vulnerability than its competitor SQL Server, a product of Microsoft..

From ComputerWorld:

Between December 2000 and November 2006, external researchers discovered 233 vulnerabilities in Oracle’s products compared to 59 in Microsoft’s SQL Server technology, according to NGSS. The study looked at vulnerabilities that were reported and fixed in SQL Server 7, 2000 and 2005 and Oracle’s database versions 8, 9, and 10g.

The Oracle Spokes Woman in an E-Mail said:

“Products vary significantly in terms of richness of features and capabilities as well as number of versions and supported platforms,” she said. “Measuring security is a very complex process, and customers must take a number of factors into consideration — including use case scenarios, default configurations as well as vulnerability remediation and disclosure policies and practices.”

I have always preferred Oracle to SQL server and my preferred Database for any project has been Oracle.. Once I also used SQL server..

which DB do you prefer?

According to an article from Computer World:

Recently at the Professional Association for SQL Server conference, CEO of Microsoft, Steve Ballmer expressed his views by saying that “Linux operating system infringes on Microsoft’s intellectual property”

According to Ballmer:

Microsoft was motivated to sign a deal with SUSE Linux distributor Novell Inc. earlier this month because Linux “uses our intellectual property” and Microsoft wanted to “get the appropriate economic return for our shareholders from our innovation.”

The readers of this article took no time to respond to this statement of Ballmer.. The readers expressed their thoughts on this statement where few saying that this was an arrogant statement by Ballmer.. You can read the comments of the readers here – Comments from Readers of Computer World

After a week of this happenings, CEO of Novell Ron in his open letter to the community said:

our agreement with Microsoft is in no way an acknowledgment that Linux infringes upon any Microsoft intellectual property. To claim otherwise is to further sow fear, uncertainty and doubt, and does not offer a fair basis for competition

Later computer world, collected the responses from other companies CIOs where one suggested that if Linux has the codes of MS, then they should be published by Microsoft and the other said that he has taken greater offense from Ballmer’s statement..

So, now what would happen to the deal, though Ron’s statement clearly states that the deal is intact.. Only time can answer this..

According to an article in Techtree:

There is a bug named as “Reverse Cross Site Request vulnerability” first discovered by “Robert Chapin” steals login-ID and Password from various sites like forums by presenting a fake Login page..

According to Robert Chapin:

Reportedly, the attack was first carried out from a profile page using a specially crafted HTML that hides the genuine MySpace content from the page, and displays the fake login page instead. The fake page is then sent to another Web site, along with information regarding MySpace users who visited the page using Firefox.

But its said that IE7 is Less Vulnerable than Firefox because of Firefox ability to remember the LoginID and Password..

According to the article:

The attacks seen on My Space.com are likely to move on to Firefox as well because the Firefox Password Manager automatically enters any saved passwords and user-id/s into the form, whereas IE is not capable of filling in the saved information automatically.

Therefore, Firefox is more likely to get affected by the flaw, as compared to IE.
